Pre-Chelsea career
Tom joined Chelsea at Under-8 level and therefore appeared for the club at every possible academy age level.
Chelsea career
A versatile midfielder, Tom made his Under-18 debut late in the 2010-11 season. He missed much of the previous two years injured with problems relating to growth spurts and struggled again early in the 2011-12 season, but did grab his first goal for the Under-18s in November 2011. Once he returned to full fitness, he was able to put together a consistent run of appearances and make an impact in league matches, weighing in with a couple of goals and impressing in mainly a right-sided role, although he also played more centrally at times.
In a very young Under-18 team for 2012-13, Tom was the sole second-year to play regularly in the first half of the league campaign, but did so very effectively. His generally impressive year, however, wasn't enough to earn him a professional contract and his eleven stay at Chelsea ended at the culmination of the season.
International
Tom had no international representation during his Chelsea career.
