Jan Šebek (born 31 March 1991 in Plzeň, Czech Republic) is a goalkeeper who played for Chelsea's Reserve team.
Jan began his career at local side FC Tachov before moving on loan to Viktoria Plzen, the same club which developed Petr Cech.
Šebek was then sold to Chelsea by Tachov in time to sign a scholarship at Chelsea upon turning 16. He started well in England but suffered a serious knee injury early in the 2007/08 season, and whilst he was recovering, he suffered some personal family issues. The club allowed for Jan to return to the Czech Republic to be with his family, and he would continue to convalesce and eventually play later in the season in a second spell at Viktoria Plzen.
Back in England for 2008/09, he looked to make up for lost time but appeared nervous and shaky, making mistakes for the first half of the season. The second half of the campaign saw a vast improvement and upon the sale of Carlo Cudicini, Jan began working regularly with the senior team and often served as third choice goalkeeper on matchdays.
He signed a professional contract in the summer of 2009 and was assigned the squad number 50 when called upon to serve as substitute at Blackburn Rovers in 2009-10. This was his only first-team experience.
After completing the 2010-11 season with the reserve team, Jan was released upon the expiration of his contract.
Jan has represented the Czech Republic at Under-16 and Under-20 level. He made one appearance during the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Nigeria.
