Luke McCormick is a midfielder currently playing in Chelsea's Academy team.
Luke joined Chelsea as a six year-old.
Luke began his Chelsea scholarship in July 2015 after initially not being offered one and trialing elsewhere. Developing into a tough-tackling and intelligent central midfielder, however, he flourished throughout the 2015-16 season, captaining a younger team towards the end of the campaign and earning a first Under-21 appearance away to Middlesbrough.
He went from strength to strength in 2016-17, captaining Jody Morris' side on occasion, featuring in another successful FA Youth Cup campaign, earning Development Squad opportunities, and even becoming something of a goalscorer, grabbing a hat-trick in the 13-0 win over Brighton en route to a penalty-heavy 8 goals in all competitions. His proudest moment, however, came when he signed his first professional contract early in the new 2017 year. He finished that season as a key player in a domestic treble-winning side and then become the heartbeat of a Development Squad team that reached back-to-back UEFA Youth League Finals in 2018-19, despite suffering with a stress fracture in his back.
His first loan move came in June 2019 to Shrewsbury, but it failed to go to play, and he returned to Chelsea in January after making just eight appearances.
Luke has represented Scotland at Under-15 level. He is also eligible to play for England.
