Robert "Bob" Whiting (6 January 1884 – 28 April 1917) was a goalkeeper who played for Chelsea between 1906 and 1907, having signed from Tunbridge Wells Rangers. Nicknamed "Pom Pom" at Chelsea due to his powerful long-range kicking ability ("Pom Pom" was the name of a four-barrelled naval gun), he made 54 first team appearances before leaving to join Brighton & Hove Albion, and later died in action during the First World War.
