"Chelsea" (1970 single)
From TheChels.info - The Chelsea Football Club Wiki
"Chelsea" was a novelty single released in 1970 by Stamford Bridge; a short-lived band named after Chelsea's home ground. The studio-based band was the brainchild of John Carter (formerly of First Class, The Flowerpot Men and The Ivy League) and songwriting partner Ken Lewis. [1]
The single was released on the Penny Farthing label (catalogue no. PEN 715), with both the A and B-sides credited to Ken Lewis and Brian Alquist as songwriters. It peaked at number 47 in the UK singles chart on 16 May 1970. [2] The 7" garnered sufficient success for an album entitled Come Up and See Us Sometime to be recorded and released later in 1970. A second album, "The First Day of Your Life was released by the band in 1971. The A-side later appeared on the Blue Flag: A Tribute to Chelsea compilation album in 1997.
The B-side was a track entitled "Ossie", referring to Peter Osgood. The song itself is instrumental save for "Ossie" being occasionally spoken. There was an apparent effort to give the track a Mexican feel in light of the forthcoming 1970 World Cup.

Lyrics
Chelsea, Chelsea, you know I love you,
Chelsea, Chelsea, I'm thinking of you,
You've got something, that makes me want to follow you.
When I see you, I feel emotion,
So much deeper, than any ocean,
Chelsea, Chelsea, you're looking good all dressed in Blue.
Everyone talks about you,
I knew it from the start,
You would get through to everybody's heart.
Chelsea, Chelsea, the birds are singing,
Here in London, the bells are ringing,
Chelsea, Chelsea, it's you and only you for me.
Everyone talks about you,
I knew it from the start,
You would get through to everybody's heart.
Chelsea, Chelsea, the birds are singing,
Here in London, the bells are ringing,
Chelsea, Chelsea, it's you and only you for me.
You for me, ah Chelsea, Chelsea...
