Once again Chelsea were involved in the Umbro Trophy in the1997/98 season, this time going one place further by beating Everton in the final.
Prior to this Chelsea had played a couple of friendly matches.
Following the Umbro Trophy Chelsea played another two pre-season friendly matches and at the end of the season, having played Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge (Kevin Hitchcock’s Testimonial), they then played a couple over overseas matches on the island of Martinique.
