The 2007 FA Community Shield was contested between 2007 FA Cup-winners Chelsea and 2007-08 League champions Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on 5 August 2007. The match was a repeat of the previous season's FA Cup Final, which Chelsea had won 1-0 in extra time, and was the seventh time Chelsea had appeared in the annual season-opener. First half goals from Ryan Giggs and Florent Malouda weren't added to in the second period, so the match was settled with a penalty shoot-out. Chelsea missed all three of their penalties to continue the club's dismal record in spot-kick deciders.
