Eastern Counties
From TheChels.info - The Chelsea Football Club Wiki
The Eastern Counties League was formed in 1935 when several local leagues in the East Anglia area were amalgamated. Following the Second War, in the 1948/9 season the league was expanded to 16 teams with the 'A' or third team of four London clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United joining the league.
The league is still in existance today, operating as the Thurlow Nunn League and having two divisions.
Chelsea were to participate in the league for 5 seasons, before moving to the Metropolitan League in 1953. They also played in the Eastern Counties League Cup and the East Anglian Cup. Although controlled by the same committee, the later competition was completely separate from the League. See elsewhere for details of these competitions.
