Notes
The brief report I found concerning the game read, with regard to the sending off of Frank Mitchell, “Italian referee Senor Bernardi ordered Chelsea wing-half Frank Mitchell off the field at Genoa yesterday a few minutes before the end of the match with the Italian first division team Sampdoria, who won 2 – 1. Mitchell disputed the decision and was still on the field at the final whistle. After the match the referee said he thought Mitchell had been guilty of “rough play.” Mitchell did not agree with the allegation and he was supported by his colleagues.”
