From TheChels.info - The Chelsea Football Club Wiki
João Félix is a Portuguese international attacking midfielder or forward who joined Chelsea from Atlético Madrid on loan in January 2023 for the rest of the 2022-23 season. The club decided not to extend his loan, sending the player back to Madrid. However, in August 2024, The Blues signed Félix permanently, on a long term contract.

Before Chelsea
João Félix came through Benfica’s youth system, breaking into the first team in the 2018–19 season. In his debut season, he tallied 20 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances, helping Benfica secure the league title. In 2019 he moved to Atlético Madrid for a record €126 million, where he featured in 131 matches, scoring 34 goals and providing 16 assists over four season — playing an important role in their 2020–21 La Liga title win.
Chelsea career
2022–23 Season
João Félix joined Chelsea on a six-month loan in January 2023, midway through a turbulent season at Stamford Bridge. He made an eventful debut against Fulham, receiving a straight red card for a reckless tackle—earning a three-match suspension after just 57 minutes of play. Despite this setback, he gradually earned more starts under managers Graham Potter and later Frank Lampard.
He featured in 16 Premier League matches, scoring 4 goals, including a composed finish against West Ham and a smart run-and-finish against Bournemouth. While his flair, ball control, and movement were clear, Chelsea’s inconsistent form and lack of attacking cohesion limited his overall impact. Félix also played in 4 UEFA Champions League matches, but failed to score as Chelsea were eliminated by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. He ended the campaign with 20 appearances and 4 goals, showing moments of individual brilliance but without consistent end product. At the season's end, Chelsea opted not to make the move permanent at that time.
2024–25 Season
After a year-long loan at Barcelona, Félix returned to Chelsea on a permanent deal in summer 2024, reportedly for a reduced fee. He joined under manager Enzo Maresca, hoping to bring creativity and versatility to a young Chelsea attack.
Early in the season, he featured sporadically in the Premier League, often starting in wide or withdrawn attacking roles. He made 12 league appearances, scoring just 1 goal—a curling effort against Sheffield United. However, he was more impactful in cup competitions. In the FA Cup, he scored a brace in Chelsea’s third-round tie. In Europe, Félix played 5 games in the UEFA Europa Conference League, scoring 4 goals, including a stylish finish against Partizan Belgrade and a late winner in the round of 16.
Despite these flashes, Félix struggled to secure a consistent starting role amid strong competition and tactical reshuffling. In February 2025, Chelsea sanctioned a loan move to AC Milan for the remainder of the season. Prior to the move, Félix had made 20 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea in 2024–25, scoring 7 goals and assisting once.
