Pre-Chelsea career

Marcel joined Chelsea as an Under-14 from Cambridge United.

Chelsea career

Marcel made his Under-18 debut as a schoolboy in 2017 away to Southampton. He scored his first goal, a free kick, against Swansea City in February 2018.

He settled into a regular and reliable role as a scholar, featuring in almost every league match and scoring a handful of goals, before taking things to the next level in 2019-20. Often used deeper as a central midfielder, he contributed eight goals and eight assists for the youth team and made a Development Squad breakthrough with two starts and eight appearances in total. Outstanding in the 2020-21 season with five goals and six assists in 17 appearances, he declined the offer of a new contract and instead signed a three-year deal with Belgian side Union SG in May 2021, bringing an end to a six-year stay at Cobham.
