Before Chelsea
Renato Veiga began his career with Sporting CP’s youth academy, where he advanced through the ranks and featured prominently for Sporting CP B. To gain first-team experience, he spent part of the 2022–23 season on loan at FC Augsburg, earning valuable minutes in the Bundesliga. The following season, he signed with FC Basel, where he impressed with his versatility—playing as a centre-back, defensive midfielder, and left-back—and earning recognition for his composure, physicality, and distribution.
Chelsea career
Veiga joined Chelsea in July 2024 on a long-term deal for around €14 million. He made his debut in August 2024 and scored his first Chelsea goal in October during the UEFA Conference League group stage. While opportunities in the Premier League were limited—he made 7 league appearances—he featured more regularly in cup competitions.
In January 2025, he was loaned to Juventus to gain playing time and continue his development. Juventus manager praised his preferred role as a centre-back, reflecting his adaptability and tactical understanding.
On 22 August 2025, Veiga completed a move to La Liga side Villarreal, signing a seven-year deal. The transfer was reportedly worth £26 million.
