At the end of the season an Under-21 team went to Italy for a small competition and I have included those matches in this section.
For this competition Chelsea took 14 players who are known to have appeared (there may have been others in the party who failed to get on the pitch). Of these, 5 were established first-team players with the two goalkeepers John Dunn and Errol McNally kept out by Peter Bonetti, of course, and Ron Harris and Terry Venables on the verge of the first team.
