Pre-Chelsea career
Mesca caught the attention of Chelsea scouts in late 2009, and reports of his arrival from Sporting Lisbon first appeared in November of that year. His official registration was processed in May of 2010.
Chelsea career
Mesca made his Chelsea debut against Manchester United in the opening game of the Under-18 season for 2010-11, replacing Danny Stenning as a second-half substitute. He immediately showed an abundance of skill and flair, whilst adapting well to the pace of the English game, displaying strength and force in the tackle.
After a spell out with injury, he returned to fitness and scored his first goal for the youth team in March 2011 against Birmingham City. He left the club in August 2011, signing professional terms with Fulham.
International
Mesca has represented Portugal at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels. Like club colleague Kaby, he was born in Guinea-Bissau and remains eligible for them, but having grown up in Portugal, he represents them at youth level.
