Charles "Charlie" Dyke (1926 – 2013) was a Welsh winger who played for Chelsea in the seasons following the Second World War.

Chelsea career
Dyke joined the Blues in November 1947 from recent Welsh Amateur Cup-winners Troedyrhiw. He had earlier turned down a trial at Arsenal, but a second approach from a major London side proved tempting enough to forfeit potential international representation at amateur level, and he signed professional forms with the Blues at Cardiff station. [1] He made his debut in an away defeat to Aston Villa in February 1948, and went on to feature regularly during the rest of the season. He scored his first goal for the club in April; the only goal in a 1-0 home win against Sheffield United. With competition from Bobby Campbell for the outside right position the Welshman made only two appearances during the following season and didn't appear at all during 1949-50, but he enjoyed a brief renaissance in the 1950-51 season, making ten appearances in all competitions and scoring his second and final goal for Chelsea direct from a corner in a 2-1 away win against Charlton Athletic.
After Chelsea
Dyke returned to Wales in the summer, signing for Barry Town where he would make over 500 appearances, including a match-winning performance in the 1955 Welsh Cup Final; his 85th-minute free kick winning the cup for Barry Town for the first time in the club's history. After a brief spell at Haverfordwest County he returned to Barry Town and would remain involved with the club in various capacities until his retirement in 1996. In 2006 he received a letter of congratulations from Chelsea manager José Mourinho. [2] He passed away in January 2013 at the age of 86.
