Pre-Chelsea
Joe came through the ranks at Chelsea but failed to make the grade as a player and moved into the coaching ranks in his early 20s.
Chelsea career
Joe's ascent through the academy coaching ranks saw him promoted to Under-16 coach in 2011 whilst also serving as Adi Viveash's assistant at Under-18 level in FA Youth Cup matches.
In July 2014, with Viveash's promotion to Under-21 Manager, Joe was handed the Under-18 Manager's job. He won back to back Youth Cups before, at the end of the 2015-16 season, taking a year out to complete his UEFA Pro Licence which entails shadowing a group of the club's loan players whilst also working with the England national team's youth development groups. His position as Under-18 Manager was taken by his former assistant Jody Morris.
