Chelsea career

Edwards made his Chelsea debut at the age of 21 in a 1-1 draw with Stoke City mid-way through the 1952-53 season. A regular starter in the latter half of the season, making twelve appearances, he scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 3-2 away win against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in March 1953. He scored his second goal for the club nine days later, in a 3-0 home win against Liverpool. Unused during 1953-54, he made one appearance during Chelsea's league title-winning season before leaving the club prior to 1955-56. [1]

After Chelsea

Upon leaving Chelsea Edwards signed for Swindon Town, where he was a success; scoring 69 goals in 185 appearances over four and a half seasons. In 1959 he was signed by Norwich City along with fellow forward John Richards for a combined fee of £6,000. [2] Despite his impressive record at Swindon, Edwards would make just one first team appearance for Norwich before joining Northampton Town in 1961. [3]
