Walter "Wally" Bettridge (October 1886 – 23rd December 1931) was a right-sided full-back who joined Chelsea from Burton United in 1909. He played in the 1915 FA Cup Final, along with every match in the run to the final, and recommenced his Chelsea career after the First World War, going on to make over 250 appearances for the Blues. After leaving the club he spent a season at Gillingham of the Third Division South before moving on to Peterborough & Fletton United. After retiring from football he was the landlord at the Bird in Hand pub at Measham, less than a mile from his birthplace of Oakthorpe. He died in December 1931 at the age of just 45.
