Pre-Chelsea career
Chike joined Chelsea at Under-16 level from Birmingham City.
Chelsea career
Chike scored freely in his Under-16 season at Chelsea and began his scholarship in July 2012. Injuries impacted his playing time in the first half of the season but he marked his first start with a goal away to Crystal Palace in November 2012. With a clear spell of fitness under his belt, he began to make useful progress and offered something that the youth team often lacked at times; a big, mobile centre forward who linked the play with good skill and intelligence.
He signed a professional deal in the summer of 2013 but still struggled to earn a consistent place in the Under-18 team, with over half of his pre-Christmas appearances coming from the bench. In the new year he took in trial spells at Blackburn, Birmingham and Leicester with a view to a permanent move.
He was released at the end of his contract in June 2014.
International
Chike has represented Wales at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 levels, whilst he has also taken part in a Nigerian Under-17 training camp. He also retains eligibility for England.
