Pre-Chelsea career
Ed progressed through the junior age groups at Chelsea to earn a scholarship ahead of the the 2003-04 season.
Chelsea career
A versatile defender, Ed played regularly and captained the Under-18 team on many occasions. He failed to secure a professional contract, however, and left the club in 2005.

Post Chelsea Career
Ed took his career to the United States, where he spent four years as a San Jose State University footballer with the Spartans. After graduating in 2008, he returned to England to coach the Chelsea's Under-12 team back at Cobham. In July 2012 he was promoted to work alongside Dermot Drummy and Andy Myers in the Under-21 squad backroom team. Having then served as Assistant to Jody Morris in the Under-18 ranks, he joined Joe Edwards' Development Squad in the same capacity for the 2018-19 season. He would then later lead the Under-18s for three and a half seasons before leaving in early 2023 to join Morris at Swindon Town.
