Pre-Chelsea career
Jonathan joined Chelsea at Under-14 level.
Chelsea career
Charlie made his Under-18 debut as an Under-16 during the 2011-12 season and scored his first goal against Bristol City in April 2012. He became a regular in the Under-18s' defence in his first year as a scholar in 2012-13, performing ably and dependably at either right-back or centre-back. His displays earned him late-season recognition at Under-21 level, where he made his first appearance in April 2013 away to Everton.
An Under-18 ever-present right up until the last game before Christmas in 2013-14, he played right across the back four and served as the team's regular captain. His impressive performances secured him the offer of a professional contract, one which had not immediately been on the table at the end of his first scholarship year. However, he rejected the opportunity and joined Bournemouth on a two and a half year contract in January 2014.
International
Jonathan received a call-up to the Democratic Republic of Congo's Under-20 national team during June 2013 and featured in a friendly against Chile.
