Michael Woods (born 6 April 1990) is a midfielder who formerly played for Chelsea. He made two appearances for the first team, both coming in the FA Cup in the 2006-07 season. He left the club in 2011, a succession of injuries having hindered his development.

Before Chelsea
Woods joined from Leeds United with team-mate Tom Taiwo, much to the chagrin of former Chelsea owner Ken Bates, Chairman of Leeds at the time. Chelsea were accused of tapping-up, and eventually a deal was struck whereby £2.5m per player was paid to Leeds.
Chelsea career
His two FA Cup appearances were the highlight of his Blues career. He made his debut against Macclesfield Town, becoming the club's third-youngest debutant in history, before coming on again in the following round against Nottingham Forest. He was also an ever-present in the run to the FA Youth Cup Final in 2007-08.
Firmly entrenched in the Reserve team at the age of 17, injuries affected his 2008-09 season. After falling ill at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, he suffered a serious knee injury in October 2009 and would not be seen in a Blue shirt until July of 2010, having suffered an ankle injury in between.
In December 2010, Michael joined Notts County on a short-term loan, but returned after making just two appearances. In March of 2011, he picked up another long-term ankle and in June was released as a free agent with his contract expired.
After Chelsea
Just under a year after leaving the club Michael joined Yeovil Town, where he would remain until the end of the season before a brief spell at Doncaster Rovers. After a successful season at non-league Harrogate Town he returned to the Football League in 2014, signing for Hartlepool United.
International
Michael represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 levels.
