Pre-Chelsea career

Tom joined Chelsea from a young age, growing up in Surrey, where the club would eventually move its training facilities.

Chelsea career

Tom became a regular in the Under-16s defence, usually in his preferred position of right-back. He has occasionally played at left-back or centre-back and moved more into a central role as he became more experienced in the Under-18 team, but was at his best on the right side, yet struggled to make a real impact in the Under-18 team.

He doesn’t do anything flashy, he’s a solid and dependable player who doesn’t make errors and turns in a consistent performance. A former schoolboy winger, he has a good burst of acceleration and knows what he’s doing when he gets over the halfway line, and is a committed player who will give his all.

International

Tom has not represented England at any level.

Post Chelsea Career

Tom dropped out of football after leaving Chelsea, having decided to pursue an educational career with the aim of moving into sports physiotherapy. He was the only Chelsea player amongst his scholarship group to be taking a full set of A-Levels and would often train less than his contemporaries as a result.

Ahead of the 2012-13 season, Tom signed for Walton & Hersham FC of the Ryman League.
