Tomi Saarelma (born 30 November 1988 in Hollola, Finland) is a winger who formerly played for Chelsea's Academy team.

Pre-Chelsea career

Tomi joined Chelsea in 2005 as a first-year scholar from Finnish club side FC Lahti.

Chelsea career

On the diminutive side, and a naturally quiet player, Tomi struggled to assert himself on the Under-18 team. Quick and tricky on the wing, his football was generally fine, but he was exceptionally lightweight and failed to show enough progress to move into the reserve ranks or earn a professional deal.

At the end of his two-year scholarship Tomi was released.

Tomi has represented Finland at Under-19 level.

Post Chelsea Career

Tomi returned to Finland to play in the lower leagues with part-timers Rakuunat, before moving to FC KooTeePee. A brief spell in Germany with FC Kleve was ended in 2009 when he moved to Estonia to join Levadia Tallinn, before he returned to Germany with Baden, and is currently with FC Lahti in Finland.
