Josimar Quintero is a defender or midfielder currently playing in Chelsea's Academy team.
Josimar joined Chelsea from Barcelona in June 2013.
Josimar was unable to officially begin his Chelsea career in 2013 due to paperwork and visa issues but had still not played a competitive match by the end of the 2014-15 season. That changed when he turned 18 and paperwork was no longer and issue and so he became a part of Adi Viveash's Under-21 and Under-19 teams. His contributions to the latter included a goal away to Porto en route to winning the 2015-16 UEFA Youth League as he turned his game from being a winger to becoming a tenacious central midfielder.
As one of the oldest players in Viveash's 2016-17 squad, he was leaned on to provide experience and influence to the league's youngest group, and thrived upon that responsibility in the first half of the season. Injuries and international duty saw his progress taper off towards the end of the season but five goals in 20 appearances highlighted his importance to the group overall.
Josimar has represented Ecuador at Under-20 level and also qualifies for Spain due to residency.
