Josimar Quintero is a midfielder who formerly played for Chelsea's academy.
Josimar joined Chelsea from Barcelona in June 2013.
Josimar was unable to officially begin his Chelsea career in 2013 due to paperwork and visa issues but had still not played a competitive match by the end of the 2014-15 season. That changed when he turned 18 and paperwork was no longer and issue and so he became a part of Adi Viveash's Under-21 and Under-19 teams. His contributions to the latter included a goal away to Porto en route to winning the 2015-16 UEFA Youth League as he turned his game from being a winger to becoming a tenacious central midfielder.
As one of the oldest players in Viveash's 2016-17 squad, he was leaned on to provide experience and influence to the league's youngest group, and thrived upon that responsibility in the first half of the season. Injuries and international duty saw his progress taper off towards the end of the season but five goals in 20 appearances highlighted his importance to the group overall. A first loan happened ahead of 2017-18, but the decision to send him to Russian side FC Rostov was a curious and ill-fated one, and the deal was cut short after playing just 23 minutes of club football in five months. It didn't get a lot better when he joined Betis Deportivo for the remainder of the campaign, playing just 63 minutes there.
A return to the Spanish lower levels followed as he spent 2018-19 with Lleida and left Chelsea when his contract expired at the end of the season.
Josimar has represented Ecuador at Under-20 level and also qualifies for Spain due to residency.
