Pre-Chelsea career
Martell joined Chelsea at the age of 8.
Chelsea career
Martell made his Under-18 debut in early 2016 whilst still an Under-16. Following in the footsteps of Dominic Solanke, Tammy Abraham and Iké Ugbo, he racked up the Under-18s' fourth straight 20-goal season by topping the league charts with 21 en route to helping them to Southern section and National title championships, and his impact sub role in the FA Youth Cup helped him to a winners' medal there too. He was a 20-goal scorer in 2017-18 as a part of both the Under-18s' remarkable quadruple success and in stepping up to Development Squad football but, in moving there full-time in 2018-19, he struggled to reproduce the same form. Just a solitary goal followed in a frustrating campaign that would be his last at the club.
International
Martell has represented England at every level up to Under-20.
