Contents

Pre-Chelsea career

Tariq joined Chelsea as an Under-6 in development centres, eventually putting pen to paper on a deal as an Under-9.

Chelsea career

Tariq made his Under-18 debut in April 2017 and made three appearances as a schoolboy, notably coming off the bench to claim an assist in the league title-clinching match against Reading. He was then a regular throughout the academy teams as the 2017-18 youth team won a domestic quadruple and a record-equalling fifth consecutive FA Youth Cup, while he was also a key part of the teams that made back to back UEFA Youth League Finals in 2018 and 2019.

He made his Chelsea debut in December 2019 away to Arsenal and earned rave reviews for his cameo performance. However, with uncertainty over his contract, he would leave the club a month later, joining Premier League rivals Brighton on a permanent basis.

International

Tariq has represented England up to Under-20 level.
