Pre-Chelsea career

Ali joined Chelsea as an Under-15 during the 2012-13 season after impressing on trial from IF Motala, where he had already played half a dozen senior first team matches.

Chelsea career

Ali moved to England permanently at the start of the 2013-14 season and played for the Under-16 team before joining the Swedish squad at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Qatar in October and November. He made his Under-18 bow for Chelsea early in the 2014-15 season but his season was generally a stop-start affair. He did well when he played though, scoring a few goals and impressing on his fledgling steps at Under-21 level.

Things proved a little tougher in 2015-16 as, although he got a solid run of matches in the first half of the season, appearances proved harder to come by as the campaign drew on. Unfortunately, he missed all of 2016-17 through illness, and was never able to recover enough to force his way back into the reckoning at Chelsea, leaving on a free transfer in January 2018.

International

Ali has represented Sweden to Under-19 level. He was a regular feature alongside Isak Ssewankambo in their run to the Final of the 2013 European Under-17 Championships and subsequent qualification for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

He is also eligible to play for Bosnia & Herzegovina.
