Pre-Chelsea career

Nathan joined Chelsea as an Under-8.

Chelsea career

Nathan made his Under-18 debut in the final match of the 2014-15 season away to Aston Villa. Despite playing second fiddle to Jared Thompson for much of his junior career, an injury to the latter at the start of 2015-16 meant Nathan was thrust into starting and he never gave up his job all season, featuring in every match en route to winning the 2015-16 FA Youth Cup before making his Under-21 debut against Everton in May 2016.

He then made quite a detour from the more familiar development path by requesting a loan move ahead of the 2016-17 season 1. Joining seventh-tier Met Police on a half-season loan, the 17 year-old was immediately exposed to senior football, and took to it exceptionally well, earning himself a spell with Solihull Moors - two tiers above the Met Police - for the second half of the season. Impressing at that level, he joined Woking for the entirety of the 2017-18 season, and was very impressive despite the Cards' eventual relegation.

His first Football League loan move arrived in June as he joined Yeovil Town for the 2018-19 season and, once again, swept the club's annual awards after an impressive season in which his team was relegated. A move to Scotland followed in 2019-20 when he joined Ross County on loan, but a pre-season shoulder injury meant he was only able to make his debut in November, and he was restricted to just 14 appearances in all competitions before Covid-19 ended the season early. He spent two successive years on loan at Hull City thereafter, impressing initially as usual, but injuries continued to affect his progress. The Tigers declined to use their option to buy and he left Chelsea in June 2023 after a 15-year affiliation with the club.

International

Nathan has no international representation to date.
