Jared Thompson is a goalkeeper currently playing in Chelsea's Academy team.
Jared joined Chelsea from Swindon Town in 2012.
Jared made his Under-18 debut in March 2014 as an Under-15 and then saw extended action in the first half of 2014-15 whilst still a schoolboy as he covered Brad Collins' broken hand injury. He saw more league time towards the end of the season with Collins mainly focusing on the big competitions, and he was able to claim FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League winners' medals. His experience over Nathan Baxter going into their first seasons as scholars projected him to continue as first-choice Under-18 goalkeeper but a series of injuries, including a lengthy one at the start of the campaign, meant he played second fiddle in the league and cup, making just eleven appearances but ending up with another double success as part of the latest FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League winning squads.
2016-17 saw him split youth team time with Jamie Cumming, though he just shaded the FA Youth Cup starts with 6 to Cumming's 4 as the Under-18s won it for a fourth straight year en route to a domestic treble. He made his Development Squad debut in February away to Arsenal.
Jared has represented both England and Northern Ireland, the former up to Under-19 level whilst he was first choice at the 2016 European Under-17 Championships in Azerbaijan.
