The official club badge since 2005
Chelsea Football Club is a professional English football club based in West London. Founded in 1905, in the Rising Sun pub (now the Butcher's Hook), opposite Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have been English champions four times, and have won the FA Cup six times, the League Cup four times and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup twice, in addition to winning the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea play in the English Premier League and have spent most of their history in the top tier of English football. The club had their first major success in 1955, winning the league championship. Chelsea won several cup competitions during the 1960s and 1970s, but after that did not win another major title until 1997.
The 2013-14 home strip
The past decade has been the most successful period in Chelsea's history, winning consecutive Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, and reaching their first UEFA Champions League final in 2008 before winning the competition in 2012. In 2010 the club completed it's first double, winning both the Premier League and FA Cup.

In addition to current international stars such as Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole and Petr Čech, many nationally and internationally notable players have represented the Blues over the years, including Peter Osgood, Gianfranco Zola, Didier Drogba, Marcel Desailly, Kerry Dixon, Jimmy Greaves, Claude Makelele, Charlie Cooke, Roy Bentley, Peter Bonetti, Bobby Tambling and Ruud Gullit. Plus top all-time appearance-maker Ron Harris.

Chelsea's home is the 41,841 capacity Stamford Bridge football stadium in Fulham, west London, where they have played since their establishment. The club are based just outside the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The nearest London Underground station is Fulham Broadway.

Chelsea's traditional kit colours are royal blue shirts and shorts with white socks. The club badge has been changed several times in attempts to modernize or re-brand; the current badge, featuring a ceremonial lion holding a staff, is a modified version of one first adopted in the 1950s. The club has sustained the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football. Their average home gate for the 2009-10 season was 41,478, the sixth highest in the Premier League.
