Before Chelsea
Born in Bernardo Larroudé, Argentina in April 2005, Aaron Anselmino began his football journey with local Paraguayan/Rural youth setups before joining Boca Juniors’ academy at age 12. He quickly gained attention, becoming the youngest player to debut for Boca’s senior team at just 16 years and six days old, and the youngest senior starter—breaking a longstanding club record.
In 2022, he signed his first professional contract and made history with Boca. By 2023, he had established himself in the squad—earning praise for his physicality, composure, and defensive instincts.
Chelsea career
Chelsea signed Anselmino in August 2024 on a seven-year deal (transfer fee reported between £15–18 million) and immediately loaned him back to Boca into early 2025. After accruing loan minutes in Argentina, he was recalled by Chelsea in January 2025, joining first-team training and making his senior debut during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in June. He appeared briefly as a late substitute in the match against Benfica in the round of 16, marking his first competitive minutes in a Chelsea shirt.
