Before Chelsea
Andrey Santos rose through Vasco da Gama’s academy, making his senior debut just after turning 16. He impressed quickly, becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer and a regular starter in Brazil’s Série B and A, showcasing composure and technical proficiency from a young age.
Chelsea career
Loan spells
In January 2023, Chelsea signed Santos and immediately loaned him back to Vasco da Gama, where he continued his development in familiar surroundings—adding further first-team minutes and maturing his midfield play.
Santos began the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, but made only 2 appearances before being recalled in January. He then joined Strasbourg on loan, making an immediate impact. With 11 league appearances and 1 goal in Ligue 1, he demonstrated his potential in European football and earned a loan extension for the next season.
Back at Strasbourg for the full season, Santos emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most dynamic young midfielders. He starred with 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, frequently captaining the side, and established himself as a leader with strong passing, pressing, and productivity in the final third.
2024–25 Season
After his impressive spell in France, Santos returned to Chelsea ahead of the new season. He made his first competitive appearance for the club during the FIFA Club World Cup in June 2025, coming on as a substitute in the group stage. It marked a significant moment in his career, as he finally pulled on a Chelsea shirt in senior competition. A few days later, he was also involved in the final, helping the team lift the trophy.
