Contents

Before Chelsea

Benoît Badiashile came through AS Monaco’s system in France, breaking into the first team during the 2018–19 season. He quickly became known for his aerial dominance, composure on the ball, and agility for his height. His consistent performances over four seasons for Monaco—including nearly 135 appearances—earned him a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young centre-backs.

Chelsea career

2022–23 Season

On 5 January 2023, Badiashile signed for Chelsea on a long-term contract after a £33–35 million transfer. He debuted within 10 days, starting in a clean-sheet win over Crystal Palace. In his first half-season he made 11 Premier League appearances, scored once, and totaled 11 appearances in all competitions. His early performances showed promise in a team rebuilding defensively.

2023–24 Season

After recovering from a pre-season hamstring injury, Badiashile became more involved under Mauricio Pochettino. He made 18 league appearances, 15 as a starter, and featured in 22 matches in total, contributing defensively in a campaign that saw Chelsea finish sixth. He recorded one goal—in an FA Cup victory over Blackburn—and helped deliver 1 assist in the Premier League. He earned his next clean sheets at the club and improved his aerial challenge success.

2024–25 Season

In this season, Badiashile’s playing time dropped sharply under Enzo Maresca. He made just 5 Premier League appearances (333 minutes total), all from the bench, and featured mostly in cup competitions, including the Europa Conference League. He still contributed in the squad that won both the Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, though he was no longer a first-choice centre-back amid heavy competition for places.
