Before Chelsea
Dário Essugo rose through Sporting CP’s academy, making history in March 2021 as the youngest-ever Sporting debutant at 16 years and six days. Later that year, he became Sporting’s youngest-ever starter—surpassing a record held by Luís Figo. He featured sparingly for the first team and Sporting B, gaining experience across youth and senior setups.
In the second half of the 2023–24 season, he joined GD Chaves on loan in Portugal’s top flight, where he made 14 league appearances and continued developing his midfield skills.
He began the 2024–25 season with two appearances for Sporting but soon moved on loan to Las Palmas in La Liga. There, he earned regular minutes—playing 27 league matches and scoring 1 goal—before making his next move.
Chelsea career
2024–25 Season
Essugo signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2025 on a long-term contract extending until 2033, following a deal of roughly £18.5 million. He made his debut in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, entering as a late substitute in a 2–0 win over LAFC. Though too late to feature in league play, he helped the team claim the Club World Cup trophy.
