Before Chelsea

Caicedo began his senior career at Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, where his performances earned a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in early 2021. After a loan at Beerschot, he became a key starter for Brighton across 2021–2023, drawing widespread interest for his dynamic midfield performances and defensive control.

Chelsea career

2023–24 Season

Caicedo signed for Chelsea on 14 August 2023 in a British-record £115 million deal. He quickly established himself as Chelsea’s midfield anchor under Mauricio Pochettino. Caicedo played in all 35 Premier League matches, delivering 1 goal and 4 assists, and totaled 48 appearances across all competitions. He captained the side on several occasions during a season of rebuilding, earning plaudits for his work rate, tackle success, and positional discipline. His standout moment came with a long-range winner versus Bournemouth on the final day, and he also featured heavily in Chelsea’s run to the Carabao Cup final.

2024–25 Season

Under new head coach Enzo Maresca, Caicedo became the team's undisputed midfield leader. He started all 38 Premier League matches, again scoring once and adding 3 assists. In total, he played 50 games across all competitions, including the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup. He scored a stoppage-time goal in the 4–1 Conference League final win over Real Betis and lifted Chelsea’s first Club World Cup. Caicedo’s dominant season earned him Chelsea’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player awards.
