ŠK Slovan Bratislava is a football club based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Founded in 1919, in 1969 the club became the third Central European team to win a major European trophy, winning the Cup Winners' Cup by beating Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the final. In addition, Slovan provided seven players to the Czechoslovakia side that won the 1976 European Championships in Yugoslavia.
Chelsea's only matches to date against Slovan Bratislava came in the first round of Chelsea's victorious 1997-98 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup campaign, with the Blues winning both legs 2-0.
