Barnet Football Club is an English football team from High Barnet, London, England. They play at the Underhill Stadium in the London Borough of Barnet. The original Barnet F.C. were formed in 1888, having formerly been known as New Barnet F.C. (1885–1888) and Woodville F.C. (1882–1885). They were known as "The Hillmen" and played in New Barnet before moving to Queens Road in 1889. The club had success in local leagues before ceasing to exist in the 1901–02 season. Two local clubs, Barnet Avenue FC (formed 1890) and Alston Works A.F.C. (formed 1901) continued to attract support, and Barnet Avenue renamed themselves Barnet F.C. in 1904. Alston Works .A.F.C., later Barnet Alston F.C., moved to the club's current ground at Underhill, Barnet Lane. After merging with the Avenue team in 1912 they spearheaded the new Athenian League as Barnet and Alston F.C. After the First World War in 1919 they became the third instance of Barnet F.C.; the team that continues today.
Barnet have spent the majority of their history playing non-league football, with spells in the Football League. Chelsea met Barnet in the 1993-94 FA Cup, with Barnet earning a replay. Both ties were played at Stamford Bridge, as the original tie was switched to Chelsea's ground after Barnet were drawn at home.
