Wycombe Wanderers Football Club are based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The club's nicknames are "The Chairboys" and "The Blues", and they play in Oxford and Cambridge blue quarters. Having spent their history in non-league football, the club was promoted to the Football League for the first time in 1993 under future Leicester City and Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill. The club also won the FA Trophy in the same season.
Chelsea and Wycombe Wanderers didn't meet in a competitive match until 2007; a League Cup semi-final. The Buckinghamshire club earned a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Adams Park, but Chelsea won the second leg comfortably and went through to the final where they would beat Arsenal and lift the League Cup for the fourth time.
