Chester City Football Club was a football club from Chester, Cheshire. The club was founded as Chester F.C. in 1885 as an amalgamation of Chester Rovers and Old King's Scholars F.C. They joined the Football League in 1931, and have spent most of their history in lower divisions. They changed their name to Chester City in 1983. Chelsea have played Chester twice, in an FA Cup tie, and replay, in 1952. After years of financial troubles, the club were wound up in March 2010. A successor club named Chester F.C. was formed a short time later.
